Kelly O My Gawwwd!

I know this is a bit of a controversial style icon to have, and having discussed it with quite a few people and been told "noooo, she is NOT pretty" and that she looks like Dame Edna, I am quite simply stuck on thinking that Kelly Osborne is just beautiful. And, I LIKE her hair!

Look!

Kelly Osborne sporting a Badgley Mischa Fall 2012 gown at this year's Oscars, presenting for E! Channel.
My mum thinks that although the dress is beautiful, she is looking far older than her years, but I don't agree. I love the hair colour, it beautifully shows off her tan, I would definitely try it out once I've been on holiday in May! (A good look for a pregnant woman?) - and, once again, the dress is A-MA-ZING! Look at that figure! It's everything I would ever want in a dress, the draped, capped sleeves would cover my hated chubby shoulders and the black fabric (what is it?) is so flattering. I would love to see this dress in a cream or ivory, perhaps as inspiration for what will one day be my wedding dress! One other thing I love about the cut of the dress is the detail at the top where it looks like it could almost be a halter-neck top and bolero. It adds some more interest to what could have been a very simple design.

THE HAIR:  If anyone likes this kind of hair shade, I recommend using Paintbox hair-dye to get the pastel effect.  They have a special toner which can be used with any of their other shades and will turn the colour into a much softer pastel shade:
Paintbox Whiter Shade of Pale Toner

Used with:

Paintbox Colour in Blueberry Hill

And you might just have yourself a colour which matches Miss O! It's very easy to mix, you can add more colour as you go along if you wish to get a more concentrated colour, or you can just add a tiny amount to the toner, and you will have yourself a lovely purple wash through your hair.  Use it on bleached hair for the best effect, and it should last quite a while before washing out completely.  Similarly, if you would like a pastelly pink colour in your hair, which has been very popular with some celebrities over the winter and just now, you can buy a bright pink and tone it down with the Whiter Shade of Pale toner! Have fun with it and mix up your colours!

I have had (on and off) pink hair for the last two years. I started with a very bright pink to begin with, and have been trying to tone it down over the last year or so.  The Paintbox product has allowed me to achieve (almost) the exact shade I want to be.  I will wait until I've done my roots again and will try take a photo.  Here is some of my pink inspiration:

What do you think about Kelly Osborne's style? Love of hate?  Do you have a pastel hair shade? If so, how did you achieve the look?

Peace and jam!

Welcome to my B.L.O.G!

So, here is my BLOG!

I have been told for some time that I should write a blog, but it was something that I was reluctant to do up until now.  I don't have much experience in writing a diary (apart from starting and forgetting about many during my teens!).  However, now I feel like I might have something to share with people who don't know me, without sounding like I'm just spouting random nonsense at the world!

Some reasons I might be of interest to you (and I know many of you will definitely not find me interesting in any way, so for that, I apologise!):

  • I'm currently in the first trimester of my first ever pregnancy, something which absolutely terrifies and excites me.
  • I love all things fashion. And I mean, ALL things fashion.  I could talk about clothes, makeup, handbags, accessories and shoes until the end of time. And now, I have the added bonus of being able to look at baby clothes and toys!
  • I love to make things with my own bare hands. Crafts fill my spare time, and have done since I was very young.  Last year I learned to crochet, and since then I've been on a bit of a crochet binge.
  • I have a lot of very talented friends and family members, and would like to share them with other people who haven't had the luck of knowing them. I also want to get involved in a community where I can find out about other talented people and share bits of wisdom with them.

Other bits of info that might be of interest. I'm 27 years old and live with my boyfriend of five years and my three cats, Marley, Rudi and Toots.  We were meant to be getting married, and got engaged last Spring, however now that we are expecting our first child we will be postponing that until after the baby is born and I am feeling thin enough to wear a nice dress! I've been loving looking at and dreaming about wedding stuff over the past year, and I'm almost certain that won't stop now that I'm pregnant! I graduated from the University of Glasgow three years ago with a degree in Philosophical Studies, something I have never been able to apply to a "real job" and so I currently work in a very boring shop, which far from stimulates me mentally! This means I am very keen to develop my craft skills to a standard where I can begin to make money and hopefully, once I have my baby, establish my own business selling garments and bits and pieces that I have made.

My aim for this blog is three-fold:

  • Initially, I wish to share my own experiences of being pregnant, and use it to communicate with others who might be in the same position, or have been in the same position and want to share their own experiences.
  • I want to share my ideas and creations that I come up with, and again, share experiences with like-minded people.
  • Lastly, as a shopping addict and fashion victim, I want to share my own opinions and thoughts on style, makeup and beauty - and as someone who loves looking at expensive and designer clothes and makeup, but who is too poor to buy any, I want to try source some good, cheaper versions of the expensive things I love to drool over!

I hope you have fun reading my blog. If there is anything you want to know about me or wish to ask, please just ask! I am very new to this, and apart from biting my friends' ears off with this kind of thing, I have never shared my thoughts in this way before.

(I will be changing the lay-out of my blog over the next few weeks, once I have got my head around the coding etc. Please, bare with me while I do this as I know it currently looks very ... ugly!).

Peace and jam!

Oh, as a small taster, below is a photograph of a BEAUTIFUL hangbag I spotted yesterday in House of Fraser, by Biba.  It stopped me in my tracks on the way to the Mac counter, and man, I want that bag! Shame it costs £295, enough to financially ruin me! I doubt there will be any less expensive versions of this absolute beauty, however I never know! Has anyone spotted anything remotely similar to this for a less stressful price? If so, get in touch!

Sunglasses Porn

Found these Dior lovelies today in House of Fraser.  I've never spent much on a pair of sunglasses before but the pair on the second row from the top are inspiring! Yummy!
